DANCE EXAMINATIONS - GENERAL INFORMATION
Eligibility Although all students enrolled in dance examinations classes are equally taught and prepared under the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Syllabus and Canadian Dance Teachers Association Jazz & Tap Syllabus, not all students are ready to take the actual examinations at this time. The eligibility of a student for an examination is defined by a series of key factors such as appropriate technique required in that specific exam, discipline, coordination, performance quality, musicality and rhythm.
The Examination Dates Following is the requested/approximate dates for Dance Examinations. It is not guaranteed that the examination organization will attend to the dates we are requiring so please avoid to make travel commitments during the month of March and beginning of April. We will not have the exact dates until February.
The Graded Ballet Examination will be requested between March 5th-9th, 2012. This examination is applicable to the following classes:
The Jazz & Tap Examination will be requested between March 12th-16th, 2012. This examination is applicable to the following classes:
The Vocational Ballet Examination dates are determined by the Royal Academy of Dance office and this year, it is scheduled between March 26th and April 5th. This examination is applicable to the following classes:
The Commitment By authorizing their child’s participation in a Dance Exam, parents should be aware that attendance to classes is extremely important and in cases of unavoidable absences the Studio/Teacher must be communicated as soon as possible. Parents and Students should be aware that extra classes will be scheduled prior to the exam(s) so students can practice in the Examination Room, as well as rehearsal with the piano accompanist (ballet only).
The Examination Fees Participation in a Ballet, Jazz or Tap examination is subjected to an Examination Fee which includes the RAD or CDTA examination fee and an additional amount to cover costs of live piano accompaniment for rehearsals and examination day (ballet only), as well as examiner’s food, flowers, small gift for examinees, etc. RAD Membership: Candidates for Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, and Advanced 2 ballet examinations must contact the Royal Academy of Dance office at 1-888-709-0895 or 416-489-2813 and pay their membership by December 1st.
Payments All Examination Entry Fees are due December 1st, 2011 and by default, the Examination Entry Fees will be charged on the credit card on file. You also may pay the Examination Entry Fee by returning the “Dance Examination Form” with an attached cheque post-dated to December 1st. |
