PRE SCHOOL, COMBINATION & RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS Pre School Dance - 3 to 5 yrs Classes in this program are designed to introduce young students to basic ballet, jazz and tap skills in a creative and nurturing way that will spark their imagination! Recreational Dance Classes - 6 yrs & up Classes in this program are designed to offer introductory and continuing programming for the novice dancer in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop. No previous experience required.
EXAMINATION DANCE PROGRAMS Ballet Examination Classes - 6 yrs & up The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) offer an internationally recognized portfolio of examinations which is designed to motivate and encourage students of all ages and levels of ability through a systematic measurement of progress and attainment. Enrolment and placement in examination classes as well as the students' eligibility to participate in the actual examination is at the discretion of the instructors. Jazz Examination Classes - 6 yrs & up Students are prepared under the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA) and will practice terminology, barre work, centre, and travelling steps. Along with jazz technique an emphasis is placed on stretching and flexibility. Enrolment and placement in examination classes as well as the students' eligibility to participate in the actual examination is at the discretion of the instructors. Tap Examination Classes - 6 yrs & up Students are prepared under the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA). Focus is placed on terminology and history of tap, as well as rhythm and intricate footwork. The CDTA Examination Program is designed to develop confident, self-steem, skill and ability as well as providing the opportunity to network with peers and an avenue for continued training in education. Enrolment and placement in examination classes as well as the students' eligibility to participate in the actual examination is at the discretion of the instructors. ADAPT Jazz & Tap Examination Classes ADAPT is an acronym which stands for: “Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers” and it is a certified dance syllabus offering yearly examinations in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet. It represents an elite group of dance teachers who follow the ADAPT syllabus and is taught by over 150 Canadian Dance Studios from coast to coast. ADAPT Examinations train the students to think quickly and perform with a sense of style. Most of the work is in an open setting with little set work and exercises that will help students to build stronger character, integrity, and lasting moral values for their future.
PRE PROFESSIONAL DANCE PROGRAMS Ballet Free Program Classes - 11 yrs & up Classes in this program are designed to offer students the necessary skill training for the development of a professional career in the performing arts. Students will be individually challenged during non-syllabus class work. This program is highly recommended for students enrolled in Grades 5-8 Ballet Examination classes and mandatory for students enrolled in Vocational Ballet Examinations. Female students are encouraged to enrol in Pointe Work classes. Previous experience in dance is required and placement is at the discretion of the instructors. Jazz Free Program Classes - 11 yrs & up Jazz Free Program focuses on furthering the technique of the examination student with emphasis on flexibility and strength. Free Program allows students to develop a strong jazz style. Previous experience in dance is required and placement is at the discretion of the instructors. Tap Free Program Classes - 11 yrs & up Tap Free Program is designed to further develop co-ordination of footwork. To accompany examination work, the focus will be placed on quick intricate footwork, dexterity, shading, and learning a variety of rhythms. Free Program allows the competitive student to develop a good sense of style and presence. Previous experience in dance is required and placement is at the discretion of the instructors. Contemporary - 13 yrs & up Previous experience in dance is required and placement is at the discretion of the instructors. Body Conditioning Primarily designed for dancers, Body Conditioning achieves increased strength, flexibility, greater range of motion, reinforces postural alignment and helps prevent injuries. Students enrolled in this class must bring a personal towel. Participation in this class is at the discretion of the instructors. Acrobatics Highly recommended for the competitive jazz student, acrobatics is the combination of gymnastics and tumbling. The goal of acrobatics is to work alongside the examination and competitive programs to further balance, co-ordination, strength, and flexibility. |
